CUSTOM SAWING

We can turn your fallen tree into high quality lumber for use in your own shop or for future home improvement projects.

For example, we saw a lot of trees for customers who use the wood for flooring in remodeling projects and additions. Trees milled for flooring are quartersawn to achieve maximum stability and pleasing appearance.

We also saw a lot of logs for local woodworkers who prefer to use local woods and don't like the high cost of retail lumber.

In addition we resaw timbers recovered from old buildings when they are demolished. This material is often used for flooring, cabinetry or decorative architectural features.

When we're done sawing your lumber, we can help you stack you lumber for air drying or arrange transport to a local kiln for kiln drying.

Sawing this one Red Oak log in Hein Park resulted in more than 1000 board feet of lumber that was dried and milled into flooring for a new addition. The total price of converting this tree into flooring was about half of what new flooring would typically cost and the homeowners have the satisfaction of knowing that they saved the wood from their own tree.

We have four hour minimum requirement for taking the mill offsite, so in the case of just one or two logs, we will saw them at our shop at a flat rate of 40 cents/bdft.

We also offer resawing services for contractors that need to resize large beams and don't have access to appropriate equipment. In this case we charge 30 cents/linear foot up to 16' in length and 60 cents/linear foot for longer timbers.

This log yielded the customer more than 1200 bdft of quartersawn Red Oak at a price of 70 cents/bdft. This price is a little higher than usual because of the extra work in handling such a large log, but the many 20" wide QS boards that came out of it were well worth it.
