Our sawmill is a 1990 model Woodmizer LT-30 with an 18 horsepower Briggs and Stratton engine. Log loading and turning is a manual operation while carriage feed and cutting adjustments are motorized. It can readily handle logs up to 16 feet long and 36 inches in diameter. We handle logs with diameters greater than 36" by ripping them into quarters. When sawing for high quality lumber we ordinarily produce 100-150 board feet of 4/4 (1") lumber per hour. If sawing for lower grade material, we can produce 200-250 bdft per hour. |

| Our support equipment includes cant hooks for moving, loading and turning logs, Husqvarna 372xp and Rancher 55 chainsaws and a Beam Machine for ripping oversized logs. We also have a Warn X8000i winch mounted on the front of my Toyota 4x4 truck that we use to skid and load logs as well as to load them on to a trailer for transportation to our shop. |

We use the winch on the front of the truck to "parbuckle" logs onto a trailer as illustrated here . . . | ||||||||||||||||

| Back at our shop, we use an old Towmotor forklift to unload and load logs and lumber. This little worker will lift 4000lbs with no problem and with a little finesse, we can even use it to turn really heavy logs on the mill. | |||||||||||||||||

| True to our recycling principles, we built our own flatbed trailer out of scrap and a trailer hardware kit from Champion Trailers. Here it is carrying a 6000lbs Red Oak log.
Our forklift won't be able to pick it up in one chunk, so we'll quarter the log on the trailer first and then lift off the top and bottom halfs individually. |

| In our shop, we have a full compliment of woodworking tools to turn our lumber into everything from gift boxes to custom entertainment centers. We also have basic metalworking equipment and automotive repair tools to keep everything running right. | |||||||||||||||||
